French 1
French 1 is an introduction to the French language, both spoken and written, and French culture. We also learn a great deal about everyday life in France and other French-speaking (francophone) places. By the end of French 1, students are able to hold short conversations in French and can write paragraphs in French. You'll be amazed by the progress students can make in one year!

French 1 Grading Scale:
93-100 = A 77-79 = C+ 60-62= D-
90-92 = A- 73-76 = C 0-60 = F
87-89 = B+ 70-72 = C-
83-86 = B 67-69 = D+
80-82 = B- 63-66 = D
Students receive a copy of the class description / classroom rules and expectations at the beginning of each school year.

When students have a writing assignment in French (this will mainly be during the 2nd semester), it is absolutely crucial that they put forth their best effort using the grammatical structures and vocabulary that they have learned in class. Using an online translator will not help them in any way and oftentimes puts them at a disadvantage, as online translators frequently translate incorrectly.
